Skin health surveillance may be required for workers who are exposed to skin sensitisers (H317, R43) if the risk assessment determines that there is a reasonable likelihood that disease or effect may occur under the particular conditions of work. Early detection of skin problems and taking appropriate action can reduce the symptoms or cure the skin condition. Untreated dermatitis can become permanent and disabling and once sensitised skin can have a big reaction to only a small exposure. Arden Occupational Health can help companies develop and implement a health surveillance programme, liaise with the responsible person as well as administer checks to employees. Individuals showing signs or symptoms of occupational dermatitis will be required to undertake further assessments. Employees should be fully aware of the programme and its implications.

Elements of the programme:

  • Development of a company specific plan
  • Administering and interpreting questionnaires at appropriate intervals
  • Skin inspection by trained healthcare professional
  • Education and leaflets for employees regarding skin care
  • Further examination by a doctor for potential cases of occupational dermatitis for selected employees
  • Clear reports sent to allow companies to keep their required health records for employees in the programme regarding their fitness for work

Potential referral to a consultant dermatologist for patch testing or further evaluation.

Time & Price:   Variable dependant on the programme required by the client
